Puerto Rico’s escalating unemployment rate

Puerto Rico’s unemployment rate has increased from an 11.3% that was in April 2016 to an 11.5% this April. The island is by far, the biggest unemployment rate in the United States then followed by Alaska that has a 7.0% unemployment rate increasing also a 0.2% in comparison to last year. The other state/territory with an employment rate above average is New Mexico with a 6.2%. All the other states have a 5% or less, making the situation in the island unique.

The total number of employed citizens in Puerto Rico is 879,400; it has reached the lowest quantity recorded, to date, in nearly two and a half decades. Almost all the different possible employment fields have shrunk in size and labor. The only exceptions to this seem to be leisure and hospitality and financial activity, that both went up a little over a 1% but nothing worthing drastic.
